President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Africa must put in place reforms in the energy sector to accelerate economic growth.
President HICHILEMA says as part of its commitment to the Mission 300 agenda, Zambia took a decision to reform the energy sector, including key components such as bringing on board independent power producers.
The President says the country had to increase tariffs to make the sector more commercially viable.
President HICHILEMA says energy is life, as water is, hence the need for African countries to use energy to grow their economies faster.
The President was speaking today during a panel discussion, where he joined other Heads of State, Business leaders and Development partners at the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He said Africa on its part is ready to provide a business environment that will make it easier to achieve the Mission 300 agenda.
