DP World is proposing a 300 Million United States Dollar investment, starting with 50 Million, in a Public Private Partnership with ZamCargo Limited, a subsidiary of the Industrial Development Corporation -IDC.
This is to develop transport and logistics infrastructure for Zambia.
DP World Executive Vice President, SUHAIL AL BANNA disclosed this when he paid a courtesy call on President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA at State House today.
Mr. BANNA assured President HICHILEMA that the company is committed not only to generating profits but improving the livelihoods of local communities.
And President HICHILEMA said Zambia is poised to become a transport and logistics hub, driving regional trade and investment.
The President called for quick development of dry port facilities at Walvis Bay in Namibia, and Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania.
He told DP World, a global port operator, that the facilities are critical to enhancing Zambia’s export and import capabilities.
President HICHILEMA said that DP World’s initiative aligns with Zambia’s broader vision of becoming a major transport and business hub in Southern Africa.
