IMF Projects 6.6% GDP Growth for Zambia
By Honester Mshoka
Zambia is among top 10 sub-Saharan African countries projected to record the highest Gross Domestic Product -GDP- growth rate this year.
According to the International Monetary Fund -IMF- Zambia is projected to record a GDP growth rate of 6.6 percent.
This is according to the World Economic Output report by the IMF released earlier this year.
And Economist TREVOR HAMBAYI says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA should continue with his leadership of implementing policies that support the growth of small and medium enterprises.
Mr. HAMBAYI says the agricultural sector will play a crucial role in achieving the projected 6.6 percent growth of the Gross Domestic Product-GDP.
He says the improved rainfall activities and an expected bumper harvest will be key drivers of the growth.
Mr HAMBAYI told ZNBC news in an interview that, the mining sector is also expected to contribute significantly to the country’s GDP growth, despite the current power deficit.
