K50m allocated to Sports Federations
By Mwamba Makonde
Over 50 million Kwacha has been allocated to national sports federations for the 2025 season.
The National Sports Council of Zambia – NSCZ – Director, SOMBWA MUSUNSA says the funding, which has been sourced from the Ministry of Sport treasury, is aimed at supporting sports development in the country.
In an interview with ZNBC Sports, MUSUNSA said although government support to the sports sector has increased, the funding is still not enough to meet the diverse needs of all federations.
He said to ensure a structured disbursement of funds, NSCZ required all affiliated federations to submit their annual budgets and activity calendars.
Meanwhile, MUSUNSA has appealed to the corporate world to supplement government efforts in developing sports.
He said such partnerships are key to the sustainability and global competitiveness of Zambian athletes.
