Kasumbalesa Border Post Expands Truck Parking Capacity
By Blessings Chibuye
The Kasumbalesa Border Post has significantly increased its truck parking capacity from over 800 to more than 1,800 trucks.
This expansion follows the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) contracting the Zambia National Service (ZNS) to expand the parking lot and other structures to ease congestion and improve efficiency at the border.
ZRA Kasumbalesa Facility Manager Nase Lungu stated that the expansion has already created more space for trucks awaiting clearance.
He made these remarks during an inspection of the ongoing works at the Kasumbalesa Border Post Yard in Chililabombwe by ZNS Commander, Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi.
Meanwhile, ZNS Chief of Land Development Branch, Brigadier General Japhen Mukanda, highlighted the scale of the project, noting that over 28 hectares of land had been cleared, with 80 percent of the work now complete.
General Solochi expressed satisfaction with the progress and urged the team to expedite the remaining works.
