“Limit terms for MPs”

Electoral stakeholders in Eastern Province have proposed a term limit for all elected leaders in the electoral process.
They said this will give a lot of people opportunities to compete for electoral offices.
Youth Development Foundation Chief Executive Officer CHINOYA MUYEYE said there should be no perpetuity in the holding of electoral office.
Mr. MUYEYE made his submission to the Electoral Reform technical Committee that is sitting in Chipata Eastern Province.
And Human Right activists MACHISA ZIMBA submitted that candidates who base their campaigns on character assassination should be disqualified.
Meanwhile, Electoral Reform Technical Committee Co- Chairperson ALI SIMWINGA appealed to the stakeholders to ensure that they make submissions that will result in the formulation of the electoral system that is robust and fair.
Eastern Province Electoral Officer ALEX BWALYA appealed to the people in the region to make contributions because their voice matters in the electoral process.
The committee is expected to be in Chipata for three days.
