Luapula Chiefs appeal for revival of Mansa Batteries

The Luapula Province Council of Chiefs has asked government to consider reopening the defunct Mansa Batteries.
Luapula Province Council of Chiefs Vice Chairperson Chief NSAMBA says reopening Mansa Batteries will create jobs for young people who are currently jobless.
Chief NSAMBA says the Province does not have viable industries which can create jobs for the locals.
Speaking when President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA met 44 Chiefs from five Provinces who attended the Chabuka Baushi Traditional Ceremony in Mansa today, Chief NSAMBA further asked government to consider setting up power stations in the province.
The traditional leader said Luapula Province has many water bodies and waterfalls which can produce electricity for the nation.
And President HICHILEMA told the Chiefs that government is addressing all their concerns.
President HICHILEMA said government was constructing palaces for chiefs and providing social amenities to citizens.
The President also announced that Mansa Airport has been upgraded to an international airport to promote investment and tourism.
President HICHILEMA said government will upgrade Kasama to an international airport and also construct one in Nakonde District as part of developments in the northern circuit.
