
Officers deployed along Kafue River to Track wildlife deaths

The Department of National Parks and Wildlife – DNPW- has deployed a team of officers along the Kafue River system to monitor animal deaths due to the recent pollution of the river.
Department Director DOMINIC CHINDA says officers have also been put on alert to assess the situation along the river system.
Mr. CHINDA further says the department is working with other government ministries and agencies to ensure that wildlife is protected from the effects of pollution.
He told ZNBC News that pollution in the Kafue River poses a serious threat to wildlife.
Meanwhile, African River System Chief Executive Officer BOBSON SAKALA warns that pollution in the Kafue River endangers both aquatic and terrestrial wildlife.
And Zambia Climate Change Network National Coordinator LYDIA CHIBAMBO has called for a coordinated approach to address the pollution incident on the Copperbelt.
