
Over 2,500 Jobs Coming to Mumbwa

Over 2,500 jobs will be created once mining operations start at #KITUMBA #Mine in Mumbwa District Central Province.
And Mines Minister, PAUL KABUSWE says the mine will process 4.5 million tonnes of #copper ore annually, producing 50,000 tonnes of refined copper.
Mr. KABUSWE says the project will bring ZAMBIA closer to the target that seeks to contribute significantly towards boosting the country’s copper production to 3 million metric tonnes per year by 2031.
He says the investment will also include construction of a 50-megawatt solar plant to power operations.
Mr. KABUSWE was speaking during the commencement ceremony of Open pit stripping at Kitumba Mine.
Meanwhile, Central Province Minister, MWABASHIKE NKULUKUSA said the commencement of operations at the mine will increase business opportunities for local people in Mumbwa.
Mr. NKULUKUSA said the presence of KITUMBA Mine will further boost purchasing power among local people.
Meanwhile, Sino Mine Chairperson WAG PING WEI has reassured government that the 50 megawatts power plant will be operational by November 2025.
