Petauke Central goes to the polls on Feb 6,2025

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set February 6, 2025, as the date for the Petauke Central parliamentary by-election in the Eastern Province.

The commission has also set the same date for holding two ward by-elections in Ntanda Ward in Mpongwe on the Copperbelt and Litawa Ward in Mongu, Western Province.

ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Brown Kasaro, says nominations for the said by-elections will take place on January 7, 2025.

Mr. Kasaro says the campaign period will start on January 8, 2025, and end on February 5, 2025.

The Petauke Central Parliamentary By-Election comes after parliament’s declaration of a vacancy for the seat, due to the absence of the then Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Banda.
