Poultry Association cries foul over Malawian chicken trader
ZANIS-The Poultry Association of Zambia -PAZ- has expressed concern over a Malawian investor selling chickens in 13 districts in Eastern Province.
PAZ Executive Manager DOMINIC CHANDA says this is contrary to Statutory Instrument- SI- 1 of 2017 which restricts foreign investors from selling in the market.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. CHANDA said PAZ wants investors to engage in upstream value addition and set up processing facilities, leaving the local market to small-scale farmers.
Mr. CHANDA said PAZ has engaged the investor and relevant ministries, including fisheries and livestock, commerce, and small and medium enterprises to resolve the issue.
