Red Arrows have crashed out of the CAF Champions League, bringing to an end the country’s continental Club football engagements.
This follows a 4-1 aggregate loss to Democratic Republic of Congo Giants TP MAZEMBE, who have since cruised to the Group Stage of the CAF champions league.
Losing two nil at home in the first leg, the Airmen travelled to Lubumbashi for the CAF Champions league Pre-group stage second leg fixture with hopes of overturning the deficit.
Their ambition was however short lived as Mazembe took the lead nine minutes into the game following a defensive miscommunication.
It however took the second half for the Zambian Super league defending champions to find the back of the net as striker RICKY BANDA converted from the penalty spot to make it 1-1 on the day and 3-1 on aggregate.
The home side restored their lead in 85th minute through OSCAR KABWIT to make it 2-1 and 4-1 on aggregate.
2 -1 was the final score as Mazembe progressed to the group stage on a 4-1 aggregate score line.
The result sees all Zambian clubs booted out of all CAF Club competitions with ZESCO United having been the first to get eliminated in the Confederation Cup Preliminary Round.
