Referee suspended

The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has announced the indefinite suspension of referee Shem Nyondo.

The disciplinary action against the match official follows controversy during the Week 17 clash between Kabwe Warriors and Nkana FC, which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium on December 18.

Nyondo’s performance was deemed below expected standards after a thorough assessment by the league’s Referees Sub-Committee.

ZPL Head of Communications, Christina Zulu, confirmed the suspension in a statement sent to ZNBC News.

Zulu emphasized that the decision was made to uphold the league’s commitment to fairness, integrity, and credibility as efforts to professionalize and commercialize continue.
