Various stakeholders have congratulated sprinter MUZALA SAMUKONGA for minting the country’s first medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic games.
Last evening SAMUKONGA finished third in the Men’s 400 meters final clocking 43.74 to win Zambia a medal after 28 years.
Olympians Association of Zambia President JONATHAN CHIPALO says it an honor that the sprinter has got the country’s third medal in its Olympic participation history.
CHIPALO says the onus now remains with the men’s four by 400 meters relay team to get the second medal at the Paris Games.
And, RICHARD MULENGA, who is the Athletes Commission Chairperson, says the medal is a huge milestone and has appealed to Government to consider investing more in the runner.
OYDC Sports Development Center says they are happy to have played a role in SAMUKONGA preparation.
Center Acting Chief Executive Officer BENJAMIN TEMBO has since called for financial assistance so that the facility can get an upgrade.
