
StanChart Invests K14m to Empower Women

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has praised Standard Chartered Bank for investing 14.4 million Kwacha to empower women under the Women in Technology programme.
Speaking when Standard Chartered Bank management paid a courtesy call on her, Mrs. NALUMANGO said it is gratifying that the Bank is empowering women in different businesses to incorporate technology and expand their reach for better returns.
Mrs NALUMANGO said Government has placed women empowerment as a top agenda and the Bank’s initiative is complimentary.
And Mrs NALUMANGO has praised Standard Chartered Bank for introducing paid parental leave of 4 months and six days for both male and female employees.
Meanwhile, Standard Chartered Bank Chief Executive Officer, SONNY ZULU said the 14.4 million Kwacha women empowerment programme will run for three years.
Mr. ZULU said so far about 21 Zambian Women have received 10,000 Kwacha Seed money, grants since the inception of the programme in 2020.
He said the programme is aimed at encouraging women to include Technology in their businesses by creating applications to help them sell faster and reach a wider market.
