Third Parties Granted Access to Power Grid

Government has launched the electricity open access facility which will grant third parties Access to the national electricity grid.
Energy Minister MAKOZO CHIKOTE has described the launch as a great milestone in Government’s endeavor to enhance access to the transmission and distribution networks by qualified participants.
Speaking during the launch in Lusaka today, Mr. CHIKOTE urged stakeholders to take advantage of the initiative aimed at promoting transparency and indiscriminate use of transmission and distribution networks.
And Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy BERNHARD TRAUTNER said his Government is delighted to celebrate the significant achievement in its cooperation with the Zambian Government.
Meanwhile, KfW Director SUSANE GUENTHER noted that there are still several actions to enable the full realization of the Open Access Market.
And Association of Power Companies President SYLVESTER HIBAJENE commended Government for being bold and forward looking in opening up access to the electricity grid.
