“Vaccinate your dogs against Rabies”
By Alice Lubasi
The Veterinary Association of Zambia has called on members of the public to have their dogs vaccinated against Rabies.
Association President MALCOLM CHIYOBA says this will ensure that dogs are not spreading the disease to other domestic animals.
Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka, at the commemoration of the World Rabies Day, Dr CHIYOBA said if not properly handled, the disease can also be transmitted to humans.
And Dr CHIYOBA said there is a need to implement strict regulation on breeding of dogs to ensure the safety of members of the public.
He added that animal owners should pay attention to the global requirements for animal rights in order to access international markets.
