Zambia Army discovers illegal mine in Mapatizya

The Zambia Army has unearthed an illegal mine in Mapatizya area of Zimba district in Southern province.
The army has also unearthed two warehouses where illegal stones are being processed.
Army Commander Lieutenant General GEOFFREY ZYEELE says the army on Tuesday also impounded a truck laden with 28 tonnes of illegal stones.
This was disclosed during a courtesy call on Livingstone Mayor, CONSTANCE MULEABAI in Livingstone.
General ZYEELE stated that the role of the army in curbing illegal mining in the country must not be misunderstood for interest in the mining sector.
He said the interest of the army is to eradicate all possible threats to national security as well as threats to the growth of the economy.
And Ms. MULEABAI assured the army that the local authority will work with the institution to support the developmental agenda of the government.
