A 2-1 win over ZANACO football Club has seen Green Buffaloes move to second position on the FAZ MTN Super league standings.
The Army-sponsored side scored a late winner against the bankers to join log leaders Nchanga Rangers which has a better goal difference on seven points despite Buffaloes having a game in hand.
STEPHEN MUTAMA’s 19th minute goal and PERKINGS MWALE’S winner in the extra time saw Buffaloes command the day while ZANACO pulled a goal back through CHAWANANGWA KAONGA minutes before the half time break.
And Green Buffaloes Assistant Coach DEARS KAKUNTA says the players accounted for themselves well, adding that the victory is a huge step in them fighting for the title this season.
ZANACO Assistant Coach HENRY BANDA said losing six points in two games is a bitter pill to swallow but that the team will come back stronger in the next fixtures.
In other games, MUZA and ZESCO United registered their first victories of the season to sit in 11th and 12th position.
A three one win over Indeni saw MUZA collect maximum points after going three games without a win.
In Kitwe, SAMSON NGOMA scored a lone goal as Zesco United stunned Nkana football club in their back yard to mark a perfect start to the season.
Other results saw table toppers Nchanga Rangers play to one all draw against Mutondo Stars while Atletico Lusaka and Nkwazi’s game ended in a barren draw.
