
ZIEA seeks to clamp down on illegal estate agents

The Zambia Institute of Estate Agents-ZIEA says it will engage ZICTA to assist in clamping down unregistered Estate Agents who often dupe clients.
ZIEA Registrar and CEO ETTAH HANTUMBU says the institute has been working with Zambia police to clamped down on fake unlicensed estate agents.
Ms. HANTUMBU says about 40 unlicensed agents were arrested last month after a joint operations conducted by police and the Institute and some of those apprehended are currently in court .
Ms. HANTUMBU says fake agents must be brought to book as millions of Zambians are being robbed off their money every year.
She was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in LUSAKA today.
Ms. HANTUMBU says through the institute, the public should verify credentials of any real estate agent or firm before entering into any transactions.
ZIEA Currently has 203 Estate Agents practitioners and a registered membership of 1000 agents.
