Zimbabwe backs Zambia’s MAIMBO for AfDB Presidency

ZIMBABWE says it supports Zambia’s SAMUEL MAIMBO, who is the region’s sole candidate for the position of president of the African Development Bank -AfDB- Group.
Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Zambia, CHARITY CHARAMBA has reaffirmed her country’s support for Zambia’s SADC candidate.
Ms. CHARAMBA was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News today.
And Ms CHARAMBA has praised Zambians and President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA on Zambia’s 60th independence anniversary milestone.
On August 17, 2024, during its 44th Summit of Heads of State and Government in Zimbabwe, the Heads of State and Government endorsed Dr. MAIMBO, as the region’s sole candidate for the AfDB top post.
The meeting also urged SADC Member States to campaign for Dr. MAIMBO.
Dr. MAIMBO is currently the Vice President for Budget, Performance Review and Strategic Planning at the World Bank Group since July 1, 2023.
