
ZRA Intercepts 2 Trucks with illicit Alcohol and Cooking Oil

Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- has intercepted two trucks carrying smuggled goods in separate operations, seizing a substantial consignment of illicit alcohol and cooking oil.
ZRA Corporate Communications Manager, OLIVER NZALA says the Authority’s Enforcement Team, working with other stakeholders, stopped a truck in Kafue carrying a 40-foot container loaded with over 3,600 cases of assorted alcoholic beverages.
Mr NZALA says the estimated revenue loss from the smuggled alcohol is 2.8 million Kwacha.
And Mr NZALA has told ZNBC News that another truck was seized in Chongwe, carrying 1,200 units of 20-litre cooking oil buckets, with an additional estimated revenue loss of 300,000 Kwacha.
Both trucks, have been confiscated and are now subject to forfeiture to the state.
Mr. NZALA has warned that smuggling will not be tolerated and that offenders will face severe penalties, including heavy fines.
