Minister rings bell for tourism buyers

LIVINGSTONE, Tuesday, November 21, 2023

TOURISM Minister Rodney Sikumba this morning in Livingstone rung the bell to signify the opening of the first-ever trade show for tourism buyers to start speed dating, discussions with operators that are exhibiting at the show organized by Africa’s Eden.

Speaking at the third of the Africa’s Eden event in the region, the Minister said there is need for more of such occasions in Zambia and especially that the organizers have also expressed interest in having another big event next year will give the Ministry an opportunity to shine the spotlight on the country.

He said the buyers are calling Zambia, ‘The Golden Child’, meaning there is an opportunity to showcase what Zambia really has to offer in terms of tourism.

The Livingstone Lawmaker said Zambia is willing to share more ideas in terms of investments and tourism opportunities in Zambia.

He expressed happiness that Zambia companies are also exhibiting at the show.

And Africa’s Eden CEO, Jillian Blackbeard said the event brings together 118 Africa’s Eden Members from Botswana,  Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe to meet buyers from across the globe in Livingstone.

She said this year’s edition marks the biggest show to date, a testament to the dedication of her team who has worked tirelessly to ensure its success.

Meanwhile, Experience Africa Events Chief Executive, Chris Mears said the event will showcase the destination Zambia and the region to the rest of the world.

And Radisson Blu Cluster Commercial Director said Zambia is proud to be able to host such big events, put Livingstone on the map for Meetings, Incentive, Conferences and Events on the region.
