Zambia’s Green, Resilient, and Transformational Tourism Development Project (GREAT-TDP) has been deemed effective, unlocking the potential of Zambia’s nature-based economy and tourism destinations.
Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba stated during a media briefing that the project aims to showcase Zambia’s biodiversity, cultural richness, and landscapes to the world.
Mr. Sikumba says the approval of $100 million for Zambia Green, Resilient and Transformational Tourism Development Project by the world bank, which became effective on January 10, 2024, will untapped the potential of Zambia’s tourism sector.
Mr Sikumba says this milestone will also foster economic opportunities in emerging tourism destinations such as the Liuwa plains national park, source of the Zambezi and Kasaba bay.
He further explained that the Ministry has established a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to oversee project implementation, which will incorporate sustainable practices.
