The Examinations Council of Zambia has nullified the results of more than 1,800 candidates and suspended five General Certificate of Education examination centres following widespread irregularities recorded during the 2025 GCE examinations.
In a statement issued to ZNBC news in Lusaka today, ECZ Public Relations Manager NICOLAS NKHUWA announced that the affected centres have been suspended for two years, effective 2026.

The centres include Chovwe Day Secondary School in Kalumbila, Kabanda Secondary in Mwinilunga, Kampampi in Nchelenge, Yolo Secondary in Nakonde, and Twatotela in Lusaka.
All five centres will not conduct any examinations during the suspension period.
Mr. NKHUWA revealed that the Council has nullified the examination results of 1,654 candidates linked to the suspended GCE centres.
He further disclosed that the results of an additional 151 candidates who sat the 2025 Junior Secondary External Examination in Mungwi, Kaputa, and Chama districts have also been cancelled.
Mr. NKHUWA said the decision is in line with Section 26 (5) of the ECZ Act of 2023, which empowers the Council to nullify results obtained fraudulently or through examination malpractice.
The ECZ Public Relations Manager cautioned all examination centres to desist from any practices that compromise the credibility of examinations and urged strict adherence to official guidelines for the administration and management of assessments.
He said the Council remains committed to delivering credible and internationally comparable assessments, and will continue to enforce measures that safeguard the integrity of the country’s education system.
