KCM Invests in Road Rehabilitation and Solar-Powered Water System on the Copperbelt

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is rehabilitating Konkola Road in Chililabombwe District at a cost of K4 million, a development that has been warmly welcomed by residents.

KCM Community Development Trust Chairperson Sokoni Mkandawire confirmed that the road works are progressing well and emphasized that the project is a key infrastructure priority for the district. She noted that completion is expected within two weeks.

Meanwhile, in partnership with Village Water Zambia, KCM has installed a solar-powered water pumping system in Chiti Mukulu Ward of Chingola. The initiative will benefit over 20,000 households who have struggled with water shortages since 1994.

Village Water Zambia Executive Director Elisha Ngo’nomore explained that the new system will provide safe, clean water to residents who have long relied on shallow wells. Community members have commended both KCM and Village Water Zambia for addressing a decades-long challenge through sustainable solutions.
