Lusaka Residents Support New High-Value Banknotes for Cash Transactions
By Mary Kachepa
Economist Nsunge Nsunge says the introduction of a 500 kwacha note will enhance efficiency and ease transactions.
Mr. Nsunge told ZNBC News in an interview that the introduction of higher value notes with enhanced security features will also curb counterfeiting.
Lusaka resident Goodbye Chinyama says the introduction of new higher denomination banknotes will reduce the quantity of notes one has to carry when transacting in cash.
Mr. Chinyama says Zambia is not the first country to introduce high-value currency notes like the 500 kwacha.
Another Lusaka resident, Jeston Lunda, says there is a need for more sensitization on the benefits of the change of banknotes to counter misleading social media stories on the matter.
