President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says the coming years will largely be shaped by the youth through the choices they make about the economy, leadership and the future they are prepared to build.
President HICHILEMA has called on young people in the country to partner with Government in shaping Zambia’s future.
In an open letter to Zambian youth to mark Youth Day under the theme “Rise and Soar,” President HICHILEMA said the country has not yet completed the task of rebuilding the economy and urged young people to take part in the process as partners.
The President said the ambition, impatience and determination of young people are important qualities for a nation that still has work to do.
President HICHILEMA said young people should not remain on the sidelines of national development but step forward to build, create and lead.
He also encouraged youths to hold leaders accountable when they fall short, describing this as a sign of commitment to the country.
The President acknowledged the resilience of young people over the past four years, noting that many have continued to pursue education, entrepreneurship and innovation despite economic challenges.
President HICHILEMA said Government took difficult steps, including debt restructuring and an economic programme with the International Monetary Fund, to restore economic stability and rebuild the country’s foundations for future generations.
He said these efforts are beginning to produce results, with investor confidence returning and Zambia regaining credibility on the global stage.
President HICHILEMA said Government remains committed to creating opportunities for young people and expressed confidence that Zambia’s greatest achievements still lie ahead.
