The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Eastern Province has declared its firm stance against violence, lawlessness, and disrespect toward the Head of State.
Speaking to journalists in Chipata, Provincial UPND Chairperson and Eastern Province Minister Peter Phiri strongly condemned the unruly behavior exhibited by youths in Chingola, describing it as unacceptable and deserving of the strongest rebuke.
Mr. Phiri praised President Hakainde Hichilema for his maturity, restraint, and peaceful response during the incident, calling it a reflection of true leadership.
He also announced that the UPND in Eastern Province has officially endorsed President Hichilema’s candidature for next year’s elections, citing his commitment to national development through initiatives such as the cash-for-work program, free education, and the Constituency Development Fund.
Mr. Phiri further urged the security wings to uphold professional ethics and remain steadfast in maintaining peace and order.
