By Mark Ziligone
Finance and National Planning Minister, Situmbeko Muskotwane says the Lobito Corridor is central to Zambia’s plan to boost cargo movement and accelerate economic growth.
Dr. Muskotwane says the project, which involves Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia, will transform the route into a modern regional trade link.
He explains that the Lobito Corridor presents major investment opportunities to expand Zambia’s export capacity and deepen regional economic integration.
Dr. Musokotwane said this when he held a bilateral meeting with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank, Karl Nehammer on the sidelines of the Zambia-European Union Lobito Corridor Business Forum which opens tomorrow in Lusaka.
And Mr. Nehammer reaffirmed the European Investment Bank’s commitment to supporting Zambia’s infrastructure and trade ambitions.
He said the Bank stands ready to work with corridor partners to strengthen connectivity, boost trade and unlock the route’s full economic potential.
