President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA will on Friday, November 14, 2025, undertake a State Visit to Zimbabwe at the invitation of his counterpart Dr. EMMERSON MNANGAGWA.
In a statement to ZNBC news, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE, said President HICHILEMA and President MNANGAGWA will co-chair the Inaugural Session of the Zambia-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission -BNC- in Harare.
Mr. HAIMBE explained that the establishment of the BNC marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the two neighbouring nations, upgrading the existing Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation -JPCC- to a higher framework of strategic engagement.
He said the BNC underscores the shared vision of President HICHILEMA and President MNANGAGWA to strengthen bilateral cooperation, accelerate joint infrastructure projects, and deepen economic integration between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Mr. HAIMBE further noted that the BNC process will be preceded by a Meeting of Senior Officials on November 12, and a Ministerial Meeting on November 13, 2025, which will prepare the groundwork for the agreements to be considered during the inaugural session.
He said through the new framework, Zambia and Zimbabwe aim to enhance collaboration in key sectors such as trade, energy, and transport.
Mr. HAIMBE stressed that the visit also reaffirms the deep and enduring bonds of friendship, shared history, and mutual respect that unite the two nations.
He added that Zambia and Zimbabwe share vital assets, including the Kariba Dam, Victoria Falls, and major transport corridors that are central to the socio-economic progress of both countries.
The minister said Zambia remains firmly committed to regional cooperation, economic diplomacy, and infrastructure development as catalysts for inclusive growth and prosperity within the Southern African region.
Mr. HAIMBE reiterated that the Ministry will continue to advance Zambia’s bilateral and regional relations in line with the country’s foreign policy objectives and President HICHILEMA’s vision of promoting peace, stability, and economic transformation through diplomacy.
President HICHILEMA is expected to return to Lusaka immediately after the conclusion of his engagements in Harare.
