SYAKALIMA Flags Off Curriculum Materials Distribution

Education Minister DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA has flagged off the distribution of 1.7 million hard-copy curriculum modules to all ten provinces.

Mr. SYAKALIMA has also launched the distribution of 540,000 hard-copy syllabi.

The printing of the materials has been carried out at a total cost of 271 million Kwacha.

Speaking after flagging off the new curriculum materials, Mr. SYAKALIMA explained that earlier this year he distributed soft-copy learning materials, and the Ministry is now providing hard copies to support learners who faced challenges in accessing the digital versions.

He disclosed that the tender for learner textbooks and teachers’ guides for 2025 and 2026 closed on November 10, 2025.

Mr. SYAKALIMA stated that Zambia has successfully transitioned from the 2013 outcome-based education curriculum to the 2023 competence-based curriculum.

Meanwhile, Zambia Education Publishing House –ZEPH- Board Chairperson BEATRICE CHIRWA has thanked the Government for its guidance, financial support, and investment in educational materials.

Dr. CHIRWA added that the distribution of these materials reaffirms ZEPH’s national mandate to serve the education sector through high-quality, context-relevant publishing.
