Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds have blown off the roof of Mwalala Rural Health Centre in Chama District, Eastern Province.
The Centre’s In-Charge, John Lungu, confirmed the incident, which occurred yesterday at around 15:45 hours.
Mr. Lungu stated that the affected sections include the adolescent room, admission room, pharmacy, dispensing room, and laboratory. However, the waiting and screening rooms were not affected.
He explained that the drugs remained safe, as they were stored on shelves and protected by a ceiling board beneath the roofing.
Mr. Lungu emphasized that urgent intervention is required, as the facility provides health services to more than 7,000 people in areas such as Mulopwe, Ng’aanjo, and Chibwato.
