Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu has cautioned that planned protests by some sections of the Catholic Church and other church groupings risk undermining the sacred responsibility of fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and peace among citizens.
Mr. Mwiimbu, himself a member of the Catholic Church, expressed opposition to the intentions to stage protests against the ongoing constitutional-making process.
He emphasized that the Church, which he holds in high regard, is divinely mandated to unify the people.
At a time when Zambia requires collective wisdom and unity, Mr. Mwiimbu described such divisive actions as regrettable and counter-productive.
