CSOs Seek to Join Constitutional Court Petition, Defend Amendment Bill

The Consortium of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Governance has applied to be joined as an interested party in the petition filed by the Oasis Forum against Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 7 of 2025.
Consortium Vice Chairperson Solomon Ngoma expressed confidence that the Constitutional Court will allow the CSOs to present their perspective, ensuring a balanced and well-informed decision that reflects public submissions.
Speaking at a press briefing, Mr. Ngoma said the consortium is prepared to apply for a police permit to march to State House in support of the amendment process. He emphasized that the CSOs stand ready to defend the constitutional reforms, having invested time, resources, and expertise.
Meanwhile, Southern African Center for Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) Executive Director Arthur Muyunda urged Zambians and stakeholders, particularly CSOs, to be sincere. He stressed that the CSOs on Governance will not allow the current process to fail, given their active submissions to the Committee.
