Government says it will take deliberate steps to import electric buses to improve the ease of transportation in the country.

Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA says government will partner with the Ugandan government to learn how that country has successfully integrated electric buses into its transport sector.
Mr. KANGWA says government has already requested catalogue quotations for the electric buses currently in use in Uganda, as part of assessing the way forward.
He was speaking after taking a test ride on an electric bus from Uganda.
Speaking on behalf of the Honorary Consul of Uganda to Zambia, SAUL KIWEPINDI, JOSHUA ASHABA said the initiative demonstrates strong regional cooperation in advancing sustainable transport.

Meanwhile, Zambia Electric Mobility Innovation Alliance –ZEMIA- co-founder KABAYO MUHAU said the exhibition signals the start of Zambia’s shift towards a sustainable transport system.
Mr. MUHAU said ZEMIA plans to work with government to reduce customs duties on electric vehicles and promote local manufacturing.
