Six armed criminals broke into the Care Zambia Offices in Chipata, Eastern Province, in the early hours of yesterday around 01:00 hours, stealing various items including cash.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the incident, stating that the criminals first assaulted and tied the security guards before proceeding with the robbery.
Mr. Mweemba said the robbers were armed with machetes, a suspected pistol, and a bolt cutter, which they used to break into two offices.
The stolen items include a laptop,11 tablets, cases of soft drinks and a motorbike belonging to a security guard.
He added that after the incident, the guards managed to untie themselves, and one of them reported the matter to police. Investigations are underway.
