Over 200 houses which have been under construction at Mikango Barracks in Chongwe District have been completed and are ready for commissioning.
The houses form part of a defence housing project and were inspected by Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU and Zambia Army Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, Major General LUSWEPO SINYINZA.
The tour covered high-cost, medium-cost and low-cost housing units, as well as the sewerage ponds constructed to support the new residential area, which have also been completed.
Speaking during the inspection, Mr. HAAMAUNDU expressed satisfaction with the quality of workmanship at the site.
He assured the contractor, Zhongmei Engineering Group Limited, that government remains committed to ensuring the project is completed within the agreed timeframe and that all payments will be disbursed on time.
Officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development also accompanied the delegation during the tour.
