The Drug Enforcement Commission –DEC- seized Twenty-Four Million Kwacha and two million United States dollars last year through financial investigations and asset recovery.

DEC Director General NASON BANDA disclosed the information during a press briefing held in Lusaka today.
Mr. BANDA said that in 2025, eight vehicles were forfeited to the State out of a total of 65 that were seized.
He added that during the same period, two helicopters were forfeited and handed over to the Zambia Air Force to support its operations.
Mr. BANDA further said that 107 properties, comprising 83 houses and 24 pieces of land, were seized in 2025.
Out of these, three houses and seven pieces of land were forfeited to the State.
Mr. BANDA said the DEC is currently handling 1,432 financial crimes and asset recovery investigations.
Meanwhile, he said the Commission seized 1,800 metric tonnes of illegal and controlled drugs across the country last year.
Mr. BANDA added that 911 people were convicted out of 4,750 arrested in connection with drug-related offences.
