Cabinet Office has initiated a review of the Maina Soko Medical Centre organisational structure following the expansion of the facility to a 250-bed capacity from the previous 50 beds.
The upgrade has transformed the medical centre into a Level Three hospital.
The expansion however has also created staffing gaps, particularly among doctors, who are currently being outsourced.

Defence Permanent Secretary MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU says the review should prioritise enhancing service delivery to both military and civilian patients.
Mr. HAAMAUNDU was speaking during the official opening of a retreat and organisational structure review for Maina Soko Medical Centre in Chongwe District.
He urged health workers at the facility to remain focused on providing quality healthcare, responding to public needs, and making informed and timely decisions.
Meanwhile, Maina Soko Medical Centre Commandant, Brigadier General Dr. LEVY MUCHEMWA, said the current organisational structure has placed significant pressure on existing staff.
Dr. MUCHEMWA noted that the structure, which was last reviewed in 2018, is now outdated and requires revision to adequately support the expanded services being offered at the facility.
