A delegation from China Railway Construction Company –CRCC- and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation is in Zambia to conduct a field inspection in Kapiri Mposhi.
The visit is part of plans to develop a transportation hub aimed at ensuring seamless connectivity between TAZARA and the Zambia Railways system.

The inspection is scheduled for Saturday, as the team prepares for the development of a new Kapiri Mposhi dry port.
Chief Economist SUN GONGXIN says the company is also exploring investment in greenfield power projects, in collaboration with established mining companies, to meet their energy needs.
Mr. SUN has revealed that CRCC is keen to work with the Industrial Development Corporation –IDC- and Zambia Railways Limited to rehabilitate approximately 140 kilometres of railway line from Kapiri Mposhi to Ndola, with a possible extension to Sakania.

He said this during a meeting in Lusaka with key government ministries and departments, led by Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet for Finance and Economic Development, SIAZONGO SIAKALENGE.
Meanwhile, Mr. SIAKALENGE said the government is confident that CRCC will transform TAZARA into a world-class modern railway line capable of boosting economic development.
He added that Zambia expects the project to be completed within the agreed time-frame.
