President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says his administration has delivered on many of its campaign pledges and remains committed to improving the lives of Zambians.
Addressing a rally in Choma on Wednesday, President HICHILEMA urged residents of Southern Province to turn out in large numbers and vote for the UPND in the August 13 general election.
He said his government serves all citizens equally, regardless of region, and will continue working to improve their welfare.
President HICHILEMA said the introduction of Bill Seven demonstrates Government’s commitment to empowering women, young people and persons with disabilities.
He added that free education, the recruitment of additional teachers and nurses, and progress in the mining sector reflect his administration’s focus on citizens’ well-being.
The President also apologised to farmers over delays in payments for maize supplied to the Food Reserve Agency -FRA, saying outstanding amounts will be paid.
On energy, President HICHILEMA said Government is determined to end load shedding through investments in alternative energy sources to reduce reliance on hydroelectric power.

Meanwhile, Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU announced that the UPND has adopted President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA as its presidential candidate for this year’s general election.
PF Chama South Member of Parliament DAVISON MUNGANDU also endorsed President HICHILEMA’s candidature for the same election.
The remarks were made during the Choma rally attended by the President.
Infrastructure and Urban Development Minister CHARLES MILUPI said President HICHILEMA is positioned to win the 2026 presidential election, citing what he described as the UPND’s economic record.
Mr. MILUPI, who also serves as UPND Alliance chairperson, said the President has contributed to economic recovery and national peace.
And residents of Southern Province praised President HICHILEMA for increasing the CDF, saying it has transformed livelihoods in their communities.
Kazungula resident GABRIEL MWEEMBA said the initiative has had a positive impact on his life and those around him.
Meanwhile, University of Zambia Students Union Vice President JEMIMAH MWABA commended President HICHILEMA for fostering a peaceful and enabling environment for young people to thrive.
