The Radiation Protection Authority –RPA- has signed a Memorandum of Understanding –MoU- with the Zambia Police Service to strengthen radiation safety, nuclear security, and environmental protection.
The partnership, formalised at Lilayi Police Training College, will focus on joint education and training programmes in radiation protection, safety, and security.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Lusaka, RPA Executive Director BOSTER SIWILA said the agreement will lead to the establishment of a Nuclear Security Support Centre to facilitate collaborative research and related initiatives.
Dr. SIWILA added that the partnership is expected to contribute significantly to Zambia’s efforts to safeguard citizens and the environment from harmful radiation effects.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police GRAPHEL MUSAMBA said the collaboration will strengthen areas such as building management and consultancy services.
Mr. MUSAMBA noted that the MoU will promote sustainable and cost-effective management practices for both institutions.
