The Government will clear all outstanding payments for workers under the Cash for Work programme next week.

Local Government and Rural Development Minister GIFT SIALUBALO says this will ensure the programme progresses smoothly, with no worker left unpaid.

Mr. SIALUBALO said this in Lusaka today during the handover of 10 tractors, valued at 14.8 million Kwacha, to the Lusaka Waste Solid Management Company.

He explained that the tractors are part of the government’s efforts to support the Cash for Work programme, which aims to promote a clean and healthy environment.

Meanwhile, Mr. SIALUBALO also revealed that work to upgrade Cairo Road, Kafue, and Kabwe roundabouts will begin soon, with designs already in the country.

He said the projects are expected to be completed by March this year.

Ministry Permanent Secretary NICHOLAS PHIRI added that the tractors will play a vital role in addressing flooding in Lusaka by collecting garbage that clogs the city’s drainage systems.

Lusaka City Mayor CHILANDO CHITANGALA said the tractors would significantly support the city’s solid waste management efforts, particularly through the Cash for Work programme.
