President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has congratulated the Forum for Democracy and Development –FDD- and its candidate, BRIGHT NUNDWE, on their victory in the Chawama Constituency parliamentary by-election following a closely contested race.
The President states that in a democracy, each election must result in one winner, and its true purpose is to foster harmony, peace, and unity among all citizens.
He has praised the UPND, all the candidates who took part, and, most importantly, the people of Chawama, whose collective dedication ensured the democratic process was carried out as it should be.
In a post on his Facebook page, President HICHILEMA also expressed his gratitude to the Electoral Commission of Zambia –ECZ- and the law enforcement agencies for their role in overseeing a transparent, organised, and secure election.
The President acknowledged the professionalism displayed by both ECZ and the law enforcement agencies, which helped create an environment where the people’s will could be freely and peacefully expressed.
