Zambia and Tanzania have signed an agreement that will allow for the offloading of over 100,000 metric tonnes of fuel at the Port of Dar es Salaam.

The fuel is expected to be offloaded at the port between the 15th and 25th of each month.

The agreement was announced jointly by Tanzania’s Energy Minister, DEOGRATIAS NDEJEMBI, and Zambia’s Energy Minister, MAKOZO CHIKOTE, during a high-level technical meeting in Dar es Salaam.

Mr. NDEJEMBI stated that the Tanzania Port Authority has committed to ensuring the vessel is offloaded promptly, helping to maintain a steady supply of petroleum to Zambia.

Mr. CHIKOTE expressed his appreciation for the ongoing cooperation of the Tanzanian Government, noting that the agreement strengthens the already robust bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He also mentioned that the agreement is set to improve energy security and foster deeper collaboration in the energy sector between Zambia and Tanzania.
