Construction of a 50-megawatt solar plant and a 100 megawatt-hour Battery Energy Storage Project is expected to begin in March 2026 in Luapula Province.

Hadassah Hart Energy, working in partnership with Norinco International, has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction –EPC- contract for the Zindzathi 50-megawatt solar plant and 100 megawatt-hour Battery Energy Storage Project.
The project is valued at 78 million United States dollars.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lusaka, Hadassah Hart Energy Chief Executive Officer, HADASSAH BULAWAYO, said the project will be implemented in Kawambwa District of Luapula Province.
Mrs. BULAWAYO explained that construction is expected to take between 14 and 16 months once works commence.
Meanwhile, Hadassah Hart Energy Co-Founder and Chairperson, KATAMBI BULAWAYO, expressed gratitude to the Government for policy reforms and a regulatory environment that has encouraged private sector investment in the energy sector.
At the same event, Energy Minister MAKOZO CHIKOTE said the project represents the kind of energy diversification and development the Government aims to advance.
Mr. CHIKOTE’s remarks were delivered on his behalf by Ministry of Energy Permanent Secretary for Electricity, ARNOLD SIMWABA.
