SIALUBALO Calls for Fair Market, Bus Station Management

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has instructed local authorities to take full control of markets and bus stations within their areas and manage them fairly and transparently.

Local Government and Rural Development Minister GIFT SIALUBALO has  also urged councils to make effective use of council police officers.

Mr. SIALUBALO was speaking during the pass-out ceremony of council police officers in CHONGWE District.

He said the UPND administration is committed to strengthening local governance, improving public safety, and building professional, disciplined and accountable institutions.

Mr. SIALUBALO further called on local authorities to remain firm, fair, professional, and focused on serving the people.

Meanwhile, Local Government Service Commission Chairperson LUXON KAZABU emphasised the importance of discipline among officers, saying all citizens deserve dignity and respect.

Mr. KAZABU encouraged officers to increase their visibility in markets and bus stations while carrying out their duties.

Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute Principal JAMES PAIPI said the institute plans to train over 400 officers this year, with 155 already trained.
