Zambia, Ghana Sign Ten Cooperation Agreements

Zambia and Ghana have signed ten Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding covering a wide range of cooperation areas.

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and Ghanaian President JOHN MAHAMA witnessed the signing ceremony following bilateral talks at State House.

The agreements were signed by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs SAMUEL OKUDZETO ABLAKWA together with various Cabinet Ministers from Zambia.

Acting Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA and Mr. ABLAKWA signed Memoranda of Understanding on Diaspora Cooperation and on Disaster Risk Management.

The two ministers also signed MoUs on behalf of the Zambia Development Agency –ZDA- and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Zambia Bureau of Standards and the Ghana Standards Authority was signed, focusing on standardisation, conformity assessment and training.

Acting Defence Minister JACK MWIMBU signed an Agreement on the Waiver of Visa Requirements for holders of diplomatic, official, service and ordinary passports.

Mr. MWIMBU also signed an addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding on Military Defence between Zambia and Ghana, which includes rules of procedure for the Joint Defence Implementation Committee.

Meanwhile, Acting Minister of Transport and Logistics GIFT SIALUBALO signed the Bilateral Air Service Agreement, while Minister of Health ELIJAH MUCHIMA signed a Memorandum of Understanding on health cooperation between the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority and Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority.
