Zambia and Ghana have agreed to elevate their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Economic Partnership aimed at strengthening trade, investment and productive cooperation.

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and his Ghanaian counterpart JOHN MAHAMA have also committed to increasing private sector participation, easing the movement of goods and capital, and promoting joint ventures that support value addition, industrial growth and job creation.

In a joint communiqué made available to ZNBC News, the two Presidents identified priority areas of cooperation, including agriculture and food systems transformation, with a focus on agro-processing and value addition.

In the energy sector, the two Heads of State placed focus on renewable energy development and cross-border power trade.

The Presidents welcomed the Zambia–Ghana Business Dialogue, which created a platform for private sector engagement and exchanges, particularly in mining, trade, investment and fintech.

They encouraged stronger collaboration between the private sectors of both countries and the formation of joint ventures that draw on their shared strengths.

The two leaders also welcomed the conclusion and signing of ten Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements during the State Visit.
